1892 Legacy Society

1892 Legacy Society

The Wistar Institute's 1892 Legacy Society is a special group of supporters who have named The Wistar Institute in their estate plans or established deferred gifts in support of lifesaving biomedical research.

Wistar was founded in 1892 with an endowed gift from Brigadier General Isaac Jones Wistar, who had the vision and foresight to establish a long-lasting contribution to the future of medicine. Like General Wistar, our 1892 Legacy Society members are motivated by making a significant impact—leaving the world a healthier place for all.

Your membership involves no dues, obligations, or solicitations, but it does allow us to thank you and recognize you for the plans you have made, and it may inspire generosity in others. Benefits of membership in the 1892 Legacy Society also include an annual luncheon, invitations to special events and seminars and a subscription to our newsletter.

New medical therapies are a product of biomedical research. Life-saving treatments and drugs start as a brilliant creative idea that leads to an experiment in a research lab. Research requires passion and perseverance, supported by enough philanthropic investment to transform that wonderful idea into a healing reality. Thank you for planting a seed in your estate plans to grow into a Wistar discovery for future generations.
